I have my child support paid off and drivers licence reinstated after 13 years of suspention due to child support .I know that's along time ,and I attempted a few times to get licence reinstated without success. I've been employed at a r.v resort for the past 12 years, and own my home here where I work ,so during this time I survived without a licence.my question is our there any trucking company's that train even going to consider me with a long period of no licence .

I don't know why you would not be looked at as any green kid just turning 21, or immigrant who just arrived in the country and got their license. People attend training schools every week who just got their state drivers license. So long as their is nothing in the abstract indicating other reason(s) why the license would have been suspended, I'd think more then a few would let you in the door and listen to your story.
Sneakerfix Thanks this. -
I would first ask why are you thinking about trucking? Dont get me wrong, you want it you can find a way, just seems odd after being home for so long, and a non driver on top of it that you would go the trucker route.

new hires will be focused upon by their: criminal record, 10 years employment history & driving record. i.e. dwi, speeding, accidents...driving with out a license. Myself i've trained students for the CDL whom previously did not hold a drivers license...non issue.

Yes you won't have an issue as long as it wasn't suspended for something other then the none payments.

Good luck to you, hope all works out well for you.
Also, congratulations on getting all of your child support payments fully paid off. That is a huge stress off of your shoulders.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!Puppage Thanks this. -
That's a fair question. For me, I've been in IT sales for 20+ years. The money is good, but money isn't everything. At least for me. I've been blessed to sock money away because of my job, but sitting in an office all day is maddening. Pipeline, presentations, etc etc. the pressure never ends.
The idea (dream) of just hitting the road and being somewhere different every day is intoxicating. Having been on this forum for several years, reality has set in....the pros here are a wealth of information. My dream has been tempered with fact. Still, I am not letting go of it. It's come down to timing for me. I am not sure that I will ever do it, but I think about it always.
Truckers make America run. That much I do know. My respect for you is through the roof.....I think that's a big part of why I'd like to do it. I want to earn that respect.
Is that wrong? Am I nuts to want that?Bob Dobalina, Chinatown, otherhalftw and 2 others Thank this. -
It has been a goal of mine for some time ,52 years old ,healthy ,kids grown ,the time is right to jump in and do it.Sneakerfix and Puppage Thank this.

That being the case, as others have said you should be ok, just do alot of looking around first. The industry has alot to offer to those willing to push through, but it will eat alive those going in half hearted. I love it, some hate it.
tech10171968 and Puppage Thank this. -
If you want to see lots of stuff, it's worth a shot, Pete. Not sure about how much respect there is, though.
