Ok so back in December (around the 11th) I received a phone call from Old Dominion here in Chesapeake VA to come in and speak with the manager. At the time I hadn't even graduated CDL school yet and didn't have my endorsements, so the manager told me to call him next month.

So I called the manager this month and he said that it's a very slow time in the year, and to call back in February. But during the Christmas holiday I was in Indy visiting family and noticed that they were hiring drivers, so I called the Indy terminal, gave them some info and they want me to come in and fill out an app. I'm thinking of packing up and staying with a family member in Ft. Wayne (about 2 hrs from Indy) and fill out an app and wait.

So my question is what should I do? I have limited amount of money due to me being out of work since October (left to go to CDL school)

Should I take the gamble and use some of my limited resources to take a gamble at landing a job in Indy with OD? or Should I look into the 3 companies that would interview and hire me quickly?? ( TransAm, Averitt, McElroy. I've spoken and filled out apps with all of these companies at my school's graduation.)

OD is pretty much the one company I want to work for.

Go with OD and be happy.

The others will always be there if things don't work out.

If I were you, I would go to the other companies (except McElroy) first. The reason being so that you make the rookie mistakes there and after 6 months to a year experience apply to OD.

You do realize OD runs day cabs. 2 hours is to long of a commute if you have to do it every day

That would be somewhat tolerable for the linehaul driver that's out all week and sleeps in hotels.

It would be worth it for me.
