Put it out of service and don't drive it till a mechanic signs off that it's been fixed. Tell the boss you'll drive any other tractor till then.
Saw a guy drop a trailer down in NC a couple of years ago. The week before somebody lost one on the interstate and killed two people. Told him about it and made his decision not to drive any more that day easier. Hope that helps you with yours.
What would you do?

To be honest your boss may fire you.that's what happened to me and I sued him for wrongful termination.I refused to drive and haul his junk and avoiding scales because of it.I was under so much stress worrying and wondering when the next bad thing is going to happen I finally had enough and he showed up with another driver and fired me at the receiver.I would suggest telling your boss youre going home till trk is fixed.americanmadetrucker Thanks this.

I stand corrected, it was vehicular manslaughter not negligent homicide.

I don't attach my trailers. The team that brings them to our yard does. They have been told by my boss to be extra attentive to detail here. I am planning on doing the most comprehensive pre-trip ever done, and two tug tests - one in the yard (which will probably have ice) and one on the road (which will be ice free).

So, let me get this straight... you're actually going to drive the ###### thing?

Well at least you have a case to collect
A company wanting you to do dangerous things fits you well?White_Knuckle_Newbie Thanks this. -
Ok bud. You have now posted the problem on this website so we all know and the police will discover that you knew about this problem before hand. If somebody gets hurt they are going #### you up and you deserve it. Plus if you drop the trailer and somebody gets hurt you should get your ### kicked for being stupid.
Mudguppy Thanks this. -
