Is freight slow or what? Seems like my load is going to be shared in the rest of its journey to loveland, co. Two relays after I relay it tonight. I could have driven 600 miles by now if they didn't set this up.

Did you mean a fresh 70 vs. a fresh 79 to work with? I am guessing a typo error. Drive safely!

I'm worried about where that's leading. Some people want to think that hourly pay for OTR drivers is a good idea, but I can just see that going to Hell in a hand basket in no time flat.

I just thought it was interesting that they were suing for the reasons they are when everyone knows that truckers and for-tip workers are the only ones exempt from the minimum wage laws. If they somehow win it will set a precedence for sure.

There is one possible solution. Have a base salary plus mileage pay.

The base pay could be $290 a week:
    Federal minimum wage of $7.25 X 40 hours = $290.

If a driver gets 30 cents per mile and drives 2000 miles for that week, his or her mileage pay would be $600 for that week.

    $290 + $600 = $890 for the week.

God bless everyh American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

I believe that mje is correct and eventually a base pay with a smaller cpm will be the compromise that they will reach. The only thing that I would differ on is that it will be a minimum daily pay plus mileage instead of weekly. The local restaurants around here already do something similar with their waitresses.....you work for a nominal pay plus tips but are guaranteed $9 an hour for the hours you work. I don't think it is going to happen anytime soon and I don't think that they will win this lawsuit.....yet.....but I think the day is coming that the industry will have to change it's ways.

I think it has been more of a slow down because of weather issues....the blizzards, the ice, and the flooding and end of year inventory. It has started to pick back up this last week.
There were always two destinations that we had the most swaps on ....Colorado and New Jersey. Don't ask me why.....because I never did figure that one out. :biggrin_25520: Like yours, many of them made absolutely no sense. Really the only guess I have is positioning. Since TransAm guarantees home time it might be to get a driver on the right track for getting a load towards his home base.
