if you are not in danger of running out of hours than just log on duty.I was just giving you suggestions on how to save on driving hours. however if you get paid by the hour I believe it would probably benefit you to run out of hours. that way your company has to pay you to sit for ten hours while you re up on your driving time!!!!!! just kidding.

Because I'M a company driver and that's how they pay, from the time I punch my card in for work to the time I get back and punch my card out, minus the half an hour for lunch. So if the trip takes me 16 and a half hours, I get paid for 16 hours hence the half an hour for lunch.

I'M mainly logging off duty to keep my log book legal even thou it's not.

That would be beautiful but, unfortunately the company will not pay the 10 hours of off duty time. They will however pay for a hotel room up to $70.00 and give a $35.00 allowance for food and drinks. But then I lose the 8 hours OT.

and that is fine and a lot of drivers do that even though they will not admit it on an open forum. the problem with this is if you have a wreck or any kind of incident the prosecuters have a tendency to look at your log book along with the qualcomm. and i have seen the dot lower the mileage on miles able to drive on a shft without getting red flagged. if you do not drag around a qualcomm then you are probably be ok but it is so much nicer to just run legal and not have to worry about anything that can happen and cost you money or even worse your cdl.

for intrastate driving you might be allowed 16-18hrs on duty. Im not quite sure how they do it in your state. just check the local in state laws and maybe check with someone at your company who in charge(safety/human resources) then take all that info and fill out your log. once again, there are some things you can do to your log book to gain hours, that arent technically legal but can be read to be. there are a lot of gray areas that can be utilized if you need extra time. ultimately you are being paid by the hour so being shut down or put out of service for not having enough hours maybe more reasonable than getting caught in a log book altercation.logging traffic isnt a bad thing if you dont have to be in colorado by morning.

personally i would as this is an open forum and we have no idea who is reading this.

i can only suggest that you run legal so if anything did happen then you would be ok and keep your cdl

What I'M afraid of is DOT coming to my work and checking all the drivers. They did this a buddy of mines work and had the company hand over all the drivers timecards, log books and EZ-Pass (toll) recipes and looked at every corner they could turn.

I'M not worried about my times or EZ-Pass because I think I'M logging all that right. It's will DOT catch on to my timecard and off duty hours while at this stop?
