In all honesty, things are demoralizing for guys with families and I doubt some wives understand. The dice just ain't paying for some.

Why is it that all the O/O and small fleet are unable to band together and show that we won't haul this cheap freight. Last week I was getting 2300.00 from Los Angeles, CA to Seattle, WA this week their offering 1700.00 here I sit along with 2 truck lots full of trucks not moving. Why is it that when we walk into a store the prices on everyday products are up but the pay to move that product is cut in half, when are we going to start setting the rates, not brokers or shippers. You can't call a taxi and tell them your only going to pay x amount for their service. Your not going into a grocery store and tell them what your willing to pay for food. The cost of living has gone up, the cost of produce has gone up yet we can't get a good paying rates keep, when are we going to ban together. It has happened before. how much more of this can the real drivers of this industry take before we all get it together are lose it all. Just my ?s that run through my head

Wonder if your sitting at the same 2 truckstops i am. ^^^^^
I got here at 2 p.m. yesterday and there wasn't a spot to be had. And probably 50 trucks crawling around with their heads up their butt. Took me an hour to circle around and get back out. I ended up way down at the end of the street. -
The reason (there's no sticking together singing kumbayah) is because if there are 10,000 available trucks and only 10 loads someone will move that load. People have bills to pay and family to feed. No two set of circumstances are the same. You either learn to roll with it or fall to the wayside. That's just how it is in a free market.
You know it is funny. I used to say that prices in stores never change. But that is not true at all. In my house we drink Coca Cola in cans and buy it by the 12 can case. We only buy it when the price is 3 cases for $9. Sometimes the price is 2 cases for $9. Sometimes 3 for $12. Sometimes 3 for $10. We always wait and only buy a lot of it when the sale price is 3 for $9. In the summer time you best be stocked up because 3 for $9 is few and far between.
Spending a lot of time home the past year and looking to trim costs everywhere I noticed a funny thing. Every necessity we have is in cycles like that. I use Coke as an example because it is the one that sticks out in my mind and the most obvious.Last edited: Jan 19, 2016
