Sounds like the rubbish most of us run into when we try to elevate ourselves to some other level of greatness.
Apart from still putting in applications to other spots in areas out of town, I've decided to just resume taking 2-3 general ed classes each semester for as long as I remain in the town I'm currently in.
Only reason it seems to be working out for now is due to the dairy I'm picking up being a 24-30 hour barn and not having to get there exactly on the dot.
Head to class, then head to work, then head to bed.
Figure this new plan of acquiring whatever classes I can wherever I'm at is better than sitting on it.
Some might transfer over, some might not, and retaking something again will just make me all the more better at that particular subject.
As far as getting a local job and going to school goes, I personally would just get the job first and then sneak classes into the routine once you're on the job.
I'm quite sure some employer would be a little more flexible once you've been there for a few months and just now are starting to take classes.
That's my situation right now any way.

I was in the same boat you are about 10 years ago. I came from a family of truck drivers and hate ever minute of it. I went and got a fancy STEM degree from a big-10 school. I graduated 4 years ago and the best offer I have had is about 55k start, the problem is (a good poblem to have) I made 90k last year on my crappy no education mindless trucking job.

I'm the only one in my family driving a semi, so I pretty much feel like the outcast that went against the grain.
And now I'm like, "Should've listened to them first."
$90,000/year sounds good at first, but the $55,000 person probably sleeps in their own bed during off-time and doesn't have to worry about where to park it each night. -
Temp services love college grads and companies love temp services; no benefits to pay.

Nah Im local home everyday. If I was on the road I would have taken one of those 55k offers.

Where you work and what are you hauling for that kind of pay .? If you choose not to give out company info how about state location.

I pull a cryogenic tanker for Praxair (private carrier industrial gas). Its good money yes, but the hours suck and we have a safety manual 100 miles long, that you must follow.

You nailed that one

All depends on what sort of degree/certificate you have.
Those marginally, easy-to-go for, social sciences degrees seem to always lead to service jobs, or having to go to graduate studies in order to land any sort of worthwhile employment. -
I totally agree. After I retired I I finished my degree at USC in minoed in photoshop I ennyou.
