Think I am going to take the plunge later this year.......

    Thank you everyone.
    In all reality, I am hoping that it will happen around August/Sept of 2016. By then I should have my prior schooling paid off, and all the storage areas cleaned out and some cash in the bank. Hopefully I can figure out a way to keep the Harley, but I really expect to be on the road for at least 6 months straight. I won't have an apartment or anything when I go. I want to be able to just rack up the miles, bank the checks and get solid experience. I don't think I will have a problem living minimally in the truck, and like I said, once I have a year in, then I can decide what I really want to do, including where I want to live and how I want to do it. One thing is for sure, I don't see myself staying in New England. Too cold, and too expensive!!!

    Thanks....I've read the forums religiously for a few months now. You guys are rubbing off on me with the Swift humor. I'm not sure if its a good thing or bad thing, but I do sort of give the Swift trucks a little extra room when I come across them on the highway or in parking lots.........

    Are you feeling alright. Are you really saying that you wanna sell your Harley to drive a swift truck. Most here would park the truck to ride the Harley. Lmao

    LOL No, I might sell the Harley based on my finances, but I can almost guarantee I won't be driving for Swift.

    I had to sell my bike when I opened my small business! Was one of the worst days of my life... lol! Hoping when I get a couple of years into trucking I can get another one, if the wife is still ok with it.

    Go with a company that has all the driver ammenities; especially the APU.
    Go with one that runs coast to coast.
    Move to Las Vegas where the temperature, on average, doesn't drop below 42 degrees in the dead of winter. True, there are exceptions, but that's the average.
    No personal income taxes in Nevada.
    Nice plan you have going!

    Go for it! Some things get in your blood and for me OTR was. Maybe I have ADD or something but love being on the move. I remember waking up with the current shut in the AM and forgetting what state I was in haha! Go for it man cant take money to the grave anyway

    I am in a similar situation. just trying to pick the right day.

    I am captain of a bicycle team that does a charity ride for veterans. I'm thinking I want to stay for that. after that....

    BTW I decided my mid life crisis would be to get rid of all my bikes at one time. worst dam year of my life. the bike is back in the garage and there is no thought of selling that when I make the decision. pickup on the other hand.... not so sure.

    there will be nay sayers. I get it all the time how I must be nuts to wanna give up this cushy life to go drive. you gotta do for you, what's right for you.

    being medical you would have no problem going back if you decided driving was a mistake.

    Like others said, look for amenities, apu's inverters excc... a small frige, and a good microwave can save alot of money. The small checks in the first year will be alot smaller if you cant cook for yourself..
