At one of the steel mills I went to they had a similar rule. I asked the guard what the deal was? He claimed one time an out of town driver with a dog in his truck got hurt pretty badly in the mill. Then they had to take care of the dog.

A large card board box in the storage area of the sleeper, ie outside door. Call the vet and see if you can give the puppy a Benadryl if he will not settle down. Put a dirty shirt with him and he will be happy.Tell the guard or whoever you left the dog at the truck stop and tell him to look inside. No dog. Unload and be on your marry way.

Have the driver buy one of these vests and no shipper or receiver can refuse them entry as long as the dog remains in the truck.

If it wasn't in the contract that you wouldn't be able to deliver if your driver had a pet on board I would put the load in storage and roll out.

Sounds like you'll miss out on a lot of good drivers then. I know I've turned down otr jobs that didn't allow pets.

So now not only are otr drivers often required to stay out for a month at a time, not allowed to idle their trucks to stay warm or cool, they also can't have a pet with them? All for $40-80k a year? Sounds like they just keep piling more and more bs on.

Bean Jr. and finbyrd Thank this.
