    Pre- emission ------- no failure
These dpf nd def trucks are alot of headache. Goid thing u bought pre-emissions truck. You can average around 52cpm for fuel, 15cpm repair and 45cpm your pay. Total 98cpm your savings. From which u have to pay ur insurance, plates, tolls, border crossing. Thnks

    tonycr Thanks this.

52¢ pm for fuel? What are you paying? $4 a gal? Or are you only getting 4 miles a gallon? And what about insurance and taxes? I love your rose colored glasses, can I have a pair?

Dave_in_AZ and Garry Sahota Thank this.

You are way to high on what you minimum is. While I haven't done the figures in a while for an independent O/O, I can tell you that at current fuel with a leased dry van operator you need to be at less than $.80/mile before profit (or what some like to call driver pay).

Now add reefer, insurance, etc and that number will go up but even if that number goes up $.20 a mile and at 2,300 miles a week that is almost $25k a year.

Is that number doable, absolutely. But you don't want to be forced into HAVING to do that number as anyone that experienced October '15.

If you are interested in a Freightliner between 2000-2002 I know a guy selling some in Wukon IA that I just bought 2 from, good condition and maintained, you can get 1 for 12-15k. Let me know I can give you the number. Mine are treating me good so far(knock on wood).

By the way I'd try to lower the expenses more otherwise it will be hard unless you are guaranteed over 2 bucks per mile on each run which I doubt.
