Great post!
I remember that storm. I was in a hotel in Abilene, TX. I was delivering piggybacks and I usually fly back to San Antonio, TX but flights were delayed due to ice. The hail storm had knocked out windows on rental cars and I couldn't get a rental car. I grabbed a hotel for 2 nights. -
Does anyone here work for western express flatbed or van division running NE regional home on weekends? I want to know if the $900 per week 1500 miles is correct for flatbed and the $800 per week 1800 miles van? Can someone please help???

I drove a Single axle with a 48` trailer in Janesville,wi. and It was icy. I tested the pull in the yard before I left that day, and If it did not work, I was going down.
Why in the heck they put the hand valve on the dash is STUPID.
After 42 years, I cant afford to pay attention any more.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I never hardly ever look in my mirrors. So how could I know my trailer is wanting to jackknife?
Wargames Thanks this. -
AMEN!
That should be on the steering column, where you have control of the wheel and can apply the trailer brakes gently. When it's up on the dash you have to reach and hope you get the right switch if you are keeping your eyes on the road. Applying the brakes from the dash it's way too easy to give it too much.Wargames Thanks this. -
Warning signs?
-Other vehicles in the ditch.
-Your outdoor thermometer gets close to 32F.
-CB radio goes dead quiet.
-someone calls out on the CB that they just broke loose
-someone calls out on the radio that the road behind them is slick
-No spray coming up from the tires of other vehicles when the roads are shiny
-a light tap of your brakes makes your truck/trailer feel lightsouthtruck and Wargames Thank this. -
Just throw out the pizz bottle for traction, and cleans the windows also.
