Look at the roku websight or google to see if you can find a list of all the roku channels and go from there. See if any will stream to a laptop. Besides Netflix and what not.

The roku is a fairly cheap one time fee device. The only payments are the likes of netflix and hulu and whatever else.

You can get a Google Chromecast. It's cheaper. It doesn't have any channels. All it offers is a way to stream your phone or laptop to the tv. You'll need the Chromecast brower on your laptop. Cell phone will have an app to download or already built in if you have the newest operating system.

You'll need the mobile hotspot on your phone to stream google. It's doesn't use any extra internet. The mobile hotspot feature simply acts as a wireless router.

If you want stand alone tv. Your stuck with the lousy airwaves. Or buy satellite.

    pattyj Thanks this.

Download Kodi player then add Genisis. <--plenty of youtube how-to's. And its all free!
If later your interested in live tv, ($80/yr) get the Stalker add on. Much more content and PPV then any cable, or satellite for the price.

Seinfeld and Two and a Half Men are still big ticket items on TV. Two of my favorite shows.
