I'm a newbie without any verifiable experience, and just finished my first week of orientation with WEL. Next week I start training with either Shep or Mark (both are great guys). DenaliDad is spot on. Bruce is a big believer in family, and is very involved in his company. I even got a phone call from him the weekend prior to coming up here welcoming me to the "family"...how many phone calls from the CEO have you gotten from any company you were going to work for??? On top of all that, with Christmas coming up, they are flying me home to be with my family for Christmas, then back up here to hit the road with my driver trainer on the 29th.

Looks like a good choice for me so far!!!

    TB John Thanks this.

You will like Shep. I did that one week tour around Wisconsin with him when I started long ago. Listen to him and soak up every word he says. I also did my first WEL trip as a team with Mark.

Enjoy your time with WEL. Be patient with yourself, too. This is a very tough business and learning how to use your clock is challenging and essential. Don't listen to too many naysayers, don't spend all your free time in drivers lounges, find music you like, and above all, slow down. This is a long-term learning environment that takes attention and patience.

Sitting in the Love's parking lot in Wisconsin 21 hours into a 34-hour reset. The weather has been cold and gloomy, but there were no tornados and nobody died because of weather here.

Tomorrow morning early, off I go to Green Bay to pick a load for a 1,000 mile trip to our terminal in Georgia. This will be the third 1K miler this past week or so. I don't keep track of weekly miles but they are keeping me going.

They also have regional runs that get drivers home weekly, I think.

I drove for the probably 12yrs ago. They were a decent company then. Than ran my butt off. I was married at the time and the wife wanted me home more. That's the reason I left. I don't have anything bad to say about them.

Hey Denali, was turned loose a couple weeks ago, aside from a few days at home, been running pretty consistent. No real complaints so far. The dm's pretty much give us the tuna and you do them. Paperwork is a snap, the hardest part is sitting and waiting for the receivers to take us in.

I'm glad to hear you're making the adjustment. Enjoy the ride as you go through your first year. WEL's a good company; you can stay a long time and be happy. All it takes is learning the system and unique aspects they all have.

So far, I've been out since I restarted back in mid-December. I think I have to make my way home soon enough, thoug...tax season is upon us and I got a call about a very full mailbox from the postmaster...

Meh.... Wel is 'ok'. Not too sure I like the mini-swift revolving door, 62mph, rearward facing cams, and low miles due to (insert excuse here).

"mini swift revolving door" and "62 mph" shows you haven't got a clue. Get one then come back.
