I think you are right, I remember seeing him post about it around Thanksgiving time.

Hello from a fellow M3 owner(E30) and auto transporter. Your best bet here is by far get a group of guys together (preferably 6-10) and hire a reputable enclosed carrier. Reason I say go with enclosed is this is the only way the cars will be fully covered against any damage, and also I'm sure most if not all of the cars will be lowered and the enclosed guys are properly equipped to deal with lowered cars. This will also guarantee that OTW straps are used and not chains. Also going in together like this you will get a pretty decent rate especially for round trip.

I will most likely be at this event lol. I used to have an 03 M and a good friend of mine in TN has a 600whp E46M. There was talk of it being a track day event at Pocono last I heard is that correct?

Yep, I would recommend enclosed as well as long as the price falls where you need it, and Terry is right lowered cars and larger air dams will load much easier/ safer on a level deck tail lift.

Yesss finally another m3 trucker! Lol. Most recent plan was a southwest tour starting in Vegas and going thru Grand Canyon and Utah arches etc. Not sure it was ever pocono, that might be Mfest or some other event. This one is a mostly e46!even organized by members of m3forum.

Most the cars are definitely lowered, but how will enclosed better suit that? Assuming open is a 4 car single level trailer. I know most the guys would prefer closed but I fear they won't be interested past a certain price. Still gonna look for enclosed quotes tho, lemme know if you know a good one.

    Terry270 Thanks this.

An enclosed would be better for lowered cars because of how they load. An open deck carrier uses ramps to drive up onto the trailer, it is basically a big set of ramps, whereas an enclosed trailer usually has a big fold down "door" that lowers to the ground level and lifts the car up to the trailer deck like a lift gate or elevator (think Nascar hauler), so there is almost no load angle. Then there is the risk of road debris damaging the cars, plus as Terry said with an enclosed hauler you have no chance of a chain slinger throwing a meat hook around a nice, expensive aluminum lower control arm. Not to mention, security while in transit to prevent the chance of vandalism or theft of expensive components while the transporter is parked for the night.

Oh ok I must be thinking of something else. Yeah it's definitely not going to be easy pleasing owners all across the country lol.

All open car trailers have ramps to get the cars on. The enclosed rigs have a lift gate that comes down and lays flat on the ground and the car is driven on to it and lifted to the deck height then driven forward. This is how they transport race cars that are so low they scrape pavement in turns ;)

Heres a vid to show how BA they are lol
