I have a 2006 c13 and no complaints so far. Never on a hook in 5 years. Sure not the most fuelefficient but never failed. Only one sensor had to be replaced. A quick pitstop and in less than 2 hours I was back on the road.
I turn it in to CAT once every 1 1/2 years to get the overhead adjusted. I know this could be done by any mechanic but I still have warranty on it. If there is anything wrong, they can fix it at no cost.
Watch out for hours. CAT calculates 20000 hours before a rebuild.

    Don't tell my truck that!
Don't remember the exact number but it is well over 20k with 866k on the clock and has only been opened to replace injectors and intake actuators.

I remember the year before the '07 engines came out every local truck dealer stock ordered as many '06 engine equipped trucks that they could cram onto their lots. They got snatched up pretty quick as a lot of guys with 2 or 3 year old trucks at the time were trading them in so the could avoid the DPF as long as possible.

    Yes I still am.
If there is a Bavarian engine on the market in the trucking industry then it would be MAN.
Too much shicky micky with Mercedes. I didn't like them back in Germany and I don't really like them now.

What do you mean with crappy engine? An annual Fuelmileage of 7.3 MPG US on paper shouldn't be considered as bad for a truck that didn't fail in 4 1/2 years.

That's bringing you even closer to where I came from. Many people from our area worked in Dingolfing, BMW's main plant.
    But that's off topic here.
