Fired for off-duty alcohol need advice!

Grow up, handle your "needs" or get a job at a call center for a credit card company, or a Jiffy Lube. Stop whining about your inability to distinguish right from wrong like it's someone ELSE'S fault. It's yours. YOU screwed up. Try Western Express. They could care less, and it shows. No less that 20 WE drivers drinking in the hallways, and in at the pool at the Ontario Red Roof Inn proved that. No respect for themselves, or the industry. Get out of a truck and stay out. Don't like what I have to tell you? It's ok. I don't like guys like you either, unless they know enough to stay out of a truck. It's called STUPID.

It has been a very good place to work and pays well. Getting fired greatly improved my situation.

My employer wants all drivers not locally domiciled to take our breaks at their customer's DC.
After ending my shift and going off-duty. I drove my car to a restaurant where I had some alcohol. After waiting what I considered an appropriate time, I returned to the facility to go to sleep.

Now, i am having trouble getting hired because all prospective employers see is: failed an alcohol test.
Can they even do that? Pull someone in for testing when they are off-duty? And don't I have to be on-duty (per DOT) to be tested? They took my keys beforehand, so I had no access to qual-comm to even put myself on duty.

Any advice on how to get another job or who might hire me is greatly appreciated.

If you read the rest of the company policy you probably would have found it clearly posted that you can't be under the influence of alcohol while on the property either. This is a fairly common policy with any trucking company and in my opinion is a no brainer.

He wasn't under the influence of alcohol though. He was legally sober.

What are you trying to say six? I should check out k & b? Or about getting fired and then moving up? No matter how much I piss and moan I would still recommend my company to anyone needing a second chance.
