Hey everyone. Got my N14 finally tore down. Ready to turn over the engine tomorrow to remove the crank. I know on the mains the oil gap should be .002 inches minimum. I have looked every where in the manual and cannot find the rod bearing specs for clearance. I found all of my end play specs and everything else, just cant find the #### rod bearing clearances. I have a feeling Cory Wood will know this right off the top his head, I will thank you or anyone else who can help.

Okay, Cory was mice enough to answer a PM for me , so I thought I would post the answer for everyone else.
The road and main bearing clearances are the same. .020 inches to .050 inches maximum. On your mains make sure you double check for a minimum of .020 due to fretting. Seems the biggest problem from fretting I have read about is the main bolts not being tight enough.
Cory also said .020 I tighter than he likes to see and prefers .030 minimum. Please read his lower response.

No it's nothing to do with the main bolts not being tight enough. Once a cap starts fretting the bolt gets loose and if never checked it will accelerate the fretting because it's loose. Early serial number are lower main torque than newer serial number along with a larger shank main bolt.

    RidinDirty11 Thanks this.

.02 is a really tight minimum and I like to see a .03 minimum and about a .05 maximum and to this point my machine shop has kept these tolerances for me and we haven't had any issues with the blocks or heads they have done for us.

    RidinDirty11 Thanks this.
