I hear that! Blue crabs and all the ways they make em are awesome. And the MD crab soup. Wishing I was passing thru there now.

I think it can be a little unfair to compare the very rural section of southern PA to the more populated section of MD. PA is just such a massive state, they cant be everywhere. I know they keep that PA turnpike immaculate during storms. If you can make it to the turnpike, you can make it out of PA. The NJ turnpike now, is another story...
This past week I had to drive 2 hrs into PA to get a tractor part, and I noticed they have the trucks with 2 snow plows on them. The side plow that will get the shoulder. I think MD just does not get snow enough to invest in that. -
I'm a PA native, and love the Turnpike from way back, have a couple trillion driving miles on it. But it has been shut down by weather, once right behind me as I was driving to a work class out near Pizzaburgh, some people from Jersey were stuck at Carlisle and almost got let go for not getting through, the instructors were asking why I made it and they didn't, turned out to be a matter of an hour or two, I followed 4-ganged plow trucks for a lot of the way that day.
And it was shut down this last storm, not sure if that was a funding cut or being overwhelmed. Sounds like they're using those new trucks like NYS has, the sideways things.
From the place I lived I used to drive either to Harrisburg or Baltimore for work, and there is no comparison between the way the roads were cleared. No MD cheerleader at all, but MD roads, however rural, were clear and often dry, while in PA I-83 would still be messy if I was called that way.
I agree that PA is larger and sometimes gets more, but a storm from the south hits both of them hard. Storms from the midwest not so much, the Alleghenies divert them NE. Worst place was where I grew up in SW PA, I sledded a lot on town streets.
I love PA but I also loved the southward call, all I had to do was make it to Delta and I knew I was good. -
I 83 in PA is a Cluster F anyway. Even in the summer. I don't like any of the highways in PA, besides I-80. They all have short outdated merge ramps. And most have zero shoulders.
When I had to drive into PA, I was going north of Lancaster on PA-501, in my car. We had just started getting freezing rain, and there was a big wreck at the bottom of this hill. Road was shut down, had to turn around, and take back roads, during an ice storm. But I eventually made it north of the shut down, and went about my business. 2 Hours later I'm heading back south, and they had the road open by now. I then Pass the same Carlisle truck that was sitting at the accident 2 hours earlier. Poor guy had to sit there for 2 hours, no was to turn around. But this dumb paramedic thought he could make a u turn in someones drive way, wasn't gonna happen on a 2 lane rd.
