Aside from non-stop payroll shortages and unpaid layovers, Giltner has pulled out all the APUs, my truck wouldn’t idle above 20 degrees, and the bunk heaters rarely work, so be prepared to freeze in the winter and sweat in the summer. Also the fuel card didn’t always work. Strangely, they always tried to get me to pay for their trucks fuel and be reimbursed or “it might be a while we get you rolling.” Giltner generally demands you drive all the way back to giltner’s “shop” in Idaho, which is only open 8-5 M-F and run out of tin barn by Jiffy-lube rejects when the truck needs a lube or repair. These “mechanics” should go back to the Wal-mart lube bay where they came from and will usually be working on their own dirt bike or snowmobile in the shop when you roll in for service. They make it clear you’re bothering them and don’t want to see you. BTW, the person in payroll you call with company driver payroll problems just takes down your info and says “I’ll get back to you.” I’ve never heard back from her even once when I’m trying to get paid. Being a reefer only trucking company, you will have to pay for at least $300.00 a week for lumpers, port fees, etc., out of your own pocket. Good luck being reimbursed.

Sounds like the beginning of the end.....can u say New Century Transport ?

IMO I would never put a drop of my cash in their fuel tank and as someone else said " Tell them their reefer is running out of fuel" ....that should get their attention.

    Good luck

I hate to sound like a #### but I have no sympathy for drivers who pay for company fuel, lumpers or any other company expense. If you spend your money and don't get reimbursed it's your own fault. If I worked for a company like this and some desk jockey told me I'd have to pay for fuel or I wouldn't be rolling I'd be using that money to go home.

Giltner out of jerome, ID, frankly did the same stuff to me before I quit. The main problem with Giltner is the fuel cards for company drivers wouldn't always work. So you will be sitting at the pumps until giltner can convince TCH to turn the card back on. Since giltner is a reefer only op, you will be forking out $350-$400.00 a week out of your own pay for lumpers and port fees. When I did not get my reimbursements for these charges, I found the payroll dept to be non-responsive. As a company driver, They wanted me to pay for more and more stuff, including fuel at the end. As I now know after quiting, giltner is racking up huge reimbursements that they will never pay once you quit. I waited 4-6 hours to get loaded and unloaded on their most common loads, bananas at the Port and Walmart. No wait time or layover pay ever.

Right, you get the distinct impression that giltner doesn't want experienced drivers. When they kept $985 from my last pay, it was for not reimbursing the $500/week lumper charges they make the drivers pay for.
