License-Eye Glasses-Short Form Dot

    So, my eye sight is good enough that 'glasses' aren't listed on my license.

    However, my short form dot card does list "corrective lenses".

    But, I learned recently, one is not legally required to keep a copy of either the short form dot card or long form.

    So obviously, I'm thinking I still need to wear them. Right?

    Does anyone have experience with being pulled over while not wearing your glasses?
    There are times when I just put them on the top of my head and its real easy to pop them down.

    Will a officer even see that? Are they going to pull along side my rig and look me face to face and then put their lights on?

    What has been your experience?

    I haven't wore glasses for long, so sometimes, eyes get ...moist..a little itchy, so I pull them up.

    You gave the impression that you are refusing to wear them when "needed".
    I can't wait for "Roadside Administered Eye Test"
    Bean counters will figure it out, I'm sure.

    Corrective lenses could refer to reading glasses which I am sure you wouldn't wear while driving. I would be sure to have them on the truck with me though just in case an LEO decides to get snippy.

    Yeah I just dont wear them 24./7. I wear them, and then I pull them up, and then I put them back down. Rinse and repeat.
    I've never wore glasses my whole life. One eye is great, one eye, not as great. I have no problem reading any signs but when I take my eye test, and they have you close an eye, well, that's when I had trouble.

    On my dot card it has "I find this person qualified to drive only when "Wearing Corrective Lenses"--doctor signature etc.

    Pretty sure I have to wear them.

    Still curious, will the police officer make a big deal of checking you out before pulling over?

    "No sir, you are mistaken, I always keep my glasses on"

    Ah well that wording makes a big difference.

    Hang on, if they are perched on top of your head then they are still being "worn". ;)

    I recently had a cataract surgery done on my left eye. This left me 20 20 in that eye and 20 25 in my right eye. The vision restriction on my DL was removed just a few days ago. I don't now have a medical but if I was still driving I would have some kind of lens on me while driving a CMV, but only that.

    I haven't worn glasses since I was 18 but I do wear contacts. I have the same "corrective lenses" restriction on my DL. Not even one time since I starting driving OTR (in '07) have I been asked about not having glasses on except when it comes time to redo my DOT physical. Not even one question from any LEO. And yes, you can see them if you're looking close but you'd have to look REALLY closely. My best guess is it's assumed that contacts are more common than glasses nowadays. So you might be ok without glasses but you probably want to have them handy just in case.
    ***Disclaimer*** I'm just a driver and my opinions do not always agree with the law blah blah blah...
