I have never been to Japan, but dealing with Japanese that come to the US to conduct business with Americans you will most likely experience their dislike for us. All they want from Americans is our money/business. They will not look you in the eye or even talk to you unless there is no way to avoid it. Only thing I can figure is they are still pissed at the US because of WW II. We just stopped the bombing too soon.

I've been there. They view anyone without Japanese DNA as inferior. The only Japanese that tolerate us are the women in the bath houses; the bath houses that cater to foreigners.
The UN President, Ban Ki-moon of South Korea, put pressure on Japan to take some refugees from the troubled Middle East and African continent. About 200,000 thousand applied and Japan reluctantly approved 27. Doubtful they'll stay in Japan long because they will be shunned and scammed out of most of their paychecks by the very companies that hire them.
The President of the UN, Ban Ki-moon doesn't want any to resettle in his country of South Korea by claiming it's just too far away for them. They only want North Koreans and sometimes make exceptions for other Asians such as Chinese.Last edited: Jan 30, 2016

Hawaii? .its all about tourists, money, surfing and the weather. I purchased some tropical fish online for my aquarium a time or two when I had it.

I think I Will just forego the working out there and do an extended vacation instead someday from like October 1st. to end of December .
I found a outfit that will rent me a full size ford van in Maui for 2700 for 3 months.
Air mattress in the back and camp. I can stay in any campground for 3 consecutive days. One of them is in a big windsurfing Mecca park right on the beach
Buy a kite board and bike and sell the board and the bike when I leave.
I spent 2 weeks in Maui a few years ago.i took my 86 year old dad in a convertible over the treacherous road to Hana counterclockwise.
He thought we were going to fall off the cliffs a few times when we had to backup.
Scenery in the remote areas was awesome especially up in the hills and and on the forbidden N.E. corner of the island.

I lived in Tokyo for 2 years tutoring locals in English. I loved it, and I never got a vibe that I was 'inferior' or 'unwelcome'.
Hawaii on the other hand, outside of the Resort with the locals I didn't even feel safe, I could practically feel the hate baking off of them. -
Can confirm the racism problem in Hawaii... good friend grew up there with his brother. Has nothing but terrible things to say about the experience, he used to get his ### kicked on a daily basis by the locals all through school, etc.

Seems that some of the asian cultures can be really racist.
I'm not surprised. I've watched a youtube blog of an nice, soft spoken american guy that taught english in Japan. His wife was japanese. He gave a pretty straightforward description of how 'typical' japanese think of and treat non japanese.
Koreans are much the same (typically)
Myself, I really don't care for the elitism, the racism. We are all human. We all have strengths and weaknesses.
I always find it interesting a story I always heard about the first CD Player. It was designed by an Italian. It was rather big and bulky. And in time the japanese got the design and over time they refined and compacted it greatly. You can read between the lines why I personally like that story. -
that racism is right here in the lower 48, what makes it so different, appearance and location? I ignore it these days.
kid's will be kid's and fight.
did some myself
