My company gives me call sheets that have business hours, lunches and relevant info when they spoke to them on the phone.

Always supposed to give them an hour call. Usually it's 30 mins and sometimes it's 15 if they are right around the corner. Most people are happy to be getting there ####, and the pick ups are always happy I'm there to get there #### out of the way.

The only time I had a problem with someone was when I didn't have cell service till I was basically at the business in the boonies. The person was all upset I didn't call... And I was like, "well I'm here and your here, do you want your #### or not?" lol.

    That's pretty funny.

It never ceases to amaze how quickly someone's attitude changes when I offer to put their crap back on the truck.

About the only time i have a problem is if its residential. Then, if they don't answer, I don't bother to go. Unless its really on the way to the next stop or its oversize and needs to be gotten out of the way period.
But, my all time favorite is that one of my dispatchers will OFFER to have me call the customer when I'm 30min out.
I have had some who ask why they didn't get the 24hr notice call. That answer goes a little like this, well sir\ma'am, we just received your freight to deliver today. Do you want it tomorrow? or now, since I'm here.

Don't forget the fake appointments. :banghead:

It's funny how we make appointments at places with no listed customer phone number.

I have had a couple deliveries to internet based businesses with no storefront or home address...the bill says call 24 hours ahead and no number is provided...best part is when I've showed up to the address given, it's a locked storage unit:mad::confused:

    That's crap.

That's when the pickup driver should get a day off.

Why would you pick up a shipment with no address AND no phone number?:banghead:

One I got recently was "Well since you don't know how to do your job, I'll be using someone else then."
I refused to back in a driveway off a narrow two lane into an even narrower driveway.
For some reason, some people don't understand that I'M in charge of what my truck does or does not do. Not them.

Every day where I work, and if it is not on the BOL, we are to do it as a general practice.
