I live near Prime's headquarters. Most everyone who's worked for them that I've talked to has said to avoid it. Their training program seemed a bit odd too.
    I went with Maverick.
Good for starters, and we have a lot of old-timers as well.
Not perfect, and not for everyone, but I'd easily recommend it if you're wanting flatbed with a bigger type of company.

Two different companies specializing in two different kinds of freight.

    Maverick - Flatbed
    Prime - Reefer

Being a company driver for the offshoots - tanker & flatbed for Prime, reefer for Maverick is not the way to go according to the concensus of opinions from drivers doing those jobs I have spoken to.

Maverick is probably better for the long term career option, but flatbed might not be for you.

Maverick has home every week options, while those are near-nonexistent at Prime unless you run a Wal-Mart dedicated.

Maverick is all automatics & sadly, Prime will be also within 3 years.

Maverick can go 65mph, Prime - only 62mph.

Solo reefer has a lot of night driving & late night/early morning pickups/deliveries while flatbed is usually the opposite.

You will be hated less by other drivers driving a Maverick truck...

Oh and Primes training is not weird & is one of the few truly cost free CDL's with on the job experience you can still get; did it & would do it again.

I can't speak to Prime but did work for Maverick. It is an excellent company with very good training. If you work hard they will reward you for it. All said above by W.h.o is true. If you are willing to stay out I'd recommend glass division, better pay and often more miles with longer runs from what I hear. I regret not going that route myself.

I have been truck driving for 12 months and I love it. I started with CR England in February 2015. Now that I know what I know I wish that I took another route to get my CDL. CR England paid me .14 cents per mile and they put me under a contract which prevented me from getting another job while I was under their employment contract or I could buy them out of the contract by paying them the sum of $7,500. Needless to say I didn't have $7,500 laying around. So I stuck it out and fulfilled my contract over 9 months. I am OTR driving 48 states. When my contract was completed I quit the next Following day and joined Swit with no contract because I did not attend their school I worked for Swift for 3 months. Now I have 12 experience with a perfect drivingrecord I am now moving to a new company that pays .38 cents per mile. The good news is that with this company I only needed 3 months of experience to be hired. They allow me to have my pet on the truck with me if I choose. I will drive Western Regional with 14 days on and 3 days off. I think I will enjoy working for the new company. In fact I would like to bring along a rider for 14 days so the rider could see what trucking entails.

A driver should NOT be judged by the company that he or she drives for, but by his or her driving performances.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

I rather not disclose that information on a public forum. The company is considered a smaller company as compared to the two I've driven for. Their trucks are newer trucks which come with inverters installed. They run both refeer and dry loads. They need new drivers in Western Regional. Personally I think I prefer the smaller company who respect their drivers over a bigger company who just treat their drivers like a number. I presently love it when my DL at Swift takes the day off then I can drive without hearing his nonsense lol
