Would lease be a terrible thing? I'll be driving forever but with companies if you lease yes the payment is due every week is it better to just get an older truck drive the hell outta it and haul for a company or is the extra 25 cents a mile not worth the hassel?

As one dad to another, you should take a paternity test. I did. Here's the results:

Owner/Op prolly not the way to go, even if you could afford to run 5 days a week, you'll be turning wrenches and checking over equipment other two days. Can't count the number of times u told the wife going to work on truck for a second and looking up and realizing it was getting dark. It's a business ran by one person, so you're never off work. I actually cut back on expenses and found good local company to work for. I have a daughter and wasn't going to miss her growing up.

I worked for a guy that owned all his trucks and he told me "oh yeah you'll be home everyday, weekends off, and you'll make a good dollar too if you drive for me" the pay wasn't good. I never seen my kids except on the weekends. I was gone before my kids woke up and home when they were already in bed. Missed a lot of my son's baseball games. If you're a family man, it's hard to find the right job with home time. Good luck

Find a driving job that allows you to take care of your family but also allows you to be home regularly...there's plenty out there...research the co's and just do due diligence when picking co...and another good thing is.. Get whatever co is offering you a job to put what they offer in writing.
