With $31K income and a 6 member family they should be able to get subsidized medical care coverage. The dreaded Obamacare. It should be downright affordable.

Oh I'm not saying it's all healthcare. Only the OP knows. But it wouldn't surprise me if 5-8k was. But I could be wrong.

Man, threads like this, I'm in Minnesota on January 30, and a group of grown men are watching " The Blind Side " in the lounge.

Must have driven through the twilight zone back on the MN 15.

I agree that a driver should not be paid 1099, but the other is w2, not 1040. 1040 is the name of the income tax form individuals file. If you get paid 1099, you still file form 1040.

Well Thanks!! I do need all the luck I can get ;) I have a good handle on my personal finances. We are not in debt, we have a huge amount of Insurance fee's of all types, & the legal fee, the mandatory breathing machine, that we couldn't get a second opinion on until it was paid off (convenient) coming out of our checks, also other things we had to reimburse the company for. His drive time didn't start until the end of May, so part of the issue on the yearly is training. Still shocking how much money comes out in deductions. How do ppl make it without insurance? Obama care is placing a fee on anyone not insured every tax season. You have to prove you were insured throughout that year. If not the fee is getting pretty steep, as each year passes it gets bigger. We couldn't make it on .38 cpm, then when the raise came at 6 months to .44cpm he has had no miles since! Hiring company drivers by the hundreds monthly, loads spread too thin, it's saturated! We are new to the game, but I do my research, & this is NOT the way to go. We had a bad start to the business, but he has what he needs now to go get things lined out. Thanks for your input.

Thank you so much! I am trying. It's confusing being kinda new to this. We just want to be "Ok", & the deductions are killing us. I know it will get better, we just have to find our place. :)
