My take is that they can send you home anytime they want...BUT they probably have some written policies concerning the sending home of recruits. Why not just call the recruiter you spoke to in your interview and ask them their policies concerning this matter? That way you have the policies first-hand...

No, talking to her is not what I mean. Ask the pertinet question: "Can you tell me the policies that Schneider has in sending new recruits home?" Then specifically I would ask her "Can you send me a copy of the policies regarding this issue?" If she said she didn't know where to get the policies or couldn't send them to you, I'd ask for someone who could do the above...If they have nothing to hide they should be more than happy to send their policies to you.

    generic company policies...

we are forking out money to get you to the job interview, the thing on the phone is just to make sure you speak some reasonable semblence of english.

once at the job interview we will decide if we want to hire you. "YOU" as in you personally since we obviously have a vacancy for somebody just maybe not you.

policies for not hiring you, sending you home:

If you have lied, left out, hidden, breached the truth in any way in any communication you may be gone.

If we discover, at orientation, any new or previously overlooked disqualifying information, you may be sent home.

If everything is exactly as you say and you technically qualify for the job but after having spent 15 minutes to 5 days with you, we determine we are not willing to turn you loose or trust you with our basically brand new $200,000 dollar piece of equipment loaded with what could be several million dollars of our valued customers products.... well you might be headed home.

we call it orientation but it is an orientation/job interview.

thus far we have brought a truck load of staples worth of students to our little shin-dig and only had to send home about 30% of them for being, not up to our standards, which actually are quite low even for the trucking industry.

For most, if you can do the job and have nothing to worry about, then you really have nothing to worry about, we are looking for somebody to drive our truck for us and frankly... we really ain't all that picky... look at who we got in our trucks already !!!!

if you can't measure up to that... well you really have some serious issues now don't you....

Yes VERY well done im6under! You couldn't put it frankly enough! Me when I call a company I have this big long list of things I want to know and pretty much don't care to hear their sales pitch as I know something about almost every coast to coast company out there as 30 some odd years later I should! Any way after I ask my questions on what to me is the most important thing I need to know. I usually get the "we're supposed to be interviewing YOU not you interviewing us" but as I tell them there isn't any since of me driving ( I DO NOT DO GREYHOUND! It's like driving team with someone who only showers once a week!) all the way to you just to find out we're not meant for each other and that usually throws them way off guard. And it really is a marriage if you look at it. Meet, like what you see, get married, screw each other in little ways, get the shaft & Divorce!

I controll the interview from the beginning by saying " I have a few questions to ask before you start your interview" and go down the sheet. YOU ask THEM every question you have, DO NOT be afraid to ask as the subject WILL come up either at orientation or when it's WAY to late, in the truck! So why waste your time either driving , riding the bus or flying there as they just might NOT pay your way home! I drive my P/U there with everything I need in the truck so I don't have to wait for the stuff I NEED still sitting at the house and that way if worse comes to worse I can get back to THAT yard and then give them their truck!

Here is a GREAT post with so many questions to ask when you call that they MIGHT give you the recruiters job!

    Good Luck
