Now that is a valid concern for all drivers... Who cares what we prefer as a driver... Until they don't need drivers at all.

Averitt is the best company job ever behind Walmart.
My neighbor has been with them for over 15 years. Couldn't be happier -
Good for you... I do think that knowing how to drive a manual is a good skill to have, if one wishes to learn as you do.
Good luck in trucking and be safe while at it. -
More parts=more labor=more money to repair
-
more parts? its a different transmission. nothing else is different. sure they would most likely cost more to repair, but they are also ran by a computer, and from a beginner company POV would be a lot less frequently needed repairs than any of the parts of the manual tranny that are being abused by someone still getting the hang of it. companies are going more towards auto for that and other reasons, safer, better on fuel...Im also pretty new too so take what im saying with a grain of salt its really only what I think.

How can a manual transmission be the same as an automatic?
-
no im saying the transmissions are the only thing that are different, anything maintenance not related to the tranny would be the same.Wargames Thanks this.

How dare you... Newbies don't think!!!
-
Automated manuals are pretty much the same as a regular manual. The only difference is the clutch and shifting computer controlled.
The Volvo I shift is merely Volvos 12 speed manual with a computer controlled shifter and clutchWargames and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
I thought I had heard that before too... It's not an "automatic" but rather an "automated manual" transmission.
Thanks for adding that information.
