About 2 weeks ago 1 of the bridges for my ramps decided the padlock was too confining and grew legs, never to be seen again.
I ordered a replacement out of Oklahoma and had it shipped to an office my carrier uses. Its not far from i55 and 294.
I'm picking up a 10ft wide in the morning in Lincoln and heading to the NE with it. My intention was to detour up i55 and run 294 back down to I80 and hope no one notices. Being Chicago... no one probably will. I am 99.9% sure I could get away it using ezpass through express lanes.
Thing is rates are down, I have to be careful how I operate out here. I'd rather find a place to park my trailer than to take chance getting my permit revoked and/or fined. Not enough cushion in the rate to cover that kind of oops.
The other side is.. if someone steals my ramps and stands while I bobtail to get the other one that was stolen.. would cost more than getting fined and permit revoked.
Thats the cross road I'm at. Since pad locks obviously only keep the honest people honest. Tired of getting my ish stolen.

Toll road permit is $15…….not $35(unless its changed the past month or so)
Hurst Thanks this. -
Permit yourself to the address where your part is, then get a 2nd permit from there to wherever you are going to exit the state.
catalinaflyer and Hurst Thank this. -
Yea you could do that, you are only 10 wide so no worries about having to get escorts or any weird restrictions...

Old Man beat me to it, what he said. No worries, no fines, NO HEADACHES.
Hurst Thanks this. -
I didnt know I could do that. Will that effect my existing permits?
I use Mercury permits just give point A and point B. I thought the states decide on the route? I already have Ne, Ia, Il and In permits.
I'm really afraid of dropping my trailer some where, where I know no one will be. That whole area is a cespool. Anything could happen to my load, my trailer, my gear.
I'm in a really good position financially and trying to put the icing on the cake to make a move I've been wanting to do since I started. I just dont want to put myself into a position where needless money is put out over doing something stupid.. where I had a choice and made the wrong one.
Thanks guys. I'll call tomorrow and see if she can get me a permit to route me into Chicagoland.

Just so you know in case you don't get new permit, this idea takes you past a scale on I 55 before 294....about mile marker 267Last edited: Feb 4, 2016

Yep,you're right.
$35 is over 92,000. And up to 100,000.
Think that's right. -
I'm no expert. From your what I understand you can go a few miles off route for food, fuel, or lodging. Anything else will probably need a new permit. Could you get some one with a pickup to pick it up? Maybe rent a truck from home depot or something.
