Lets just say climbing down 2 steps to the parking lot would have been huge trouble. Thank god for garbage bags and 5 gallon pails.

    Blackshack46 Thanks this.

I've made a habit of leaving at least a one dollar tip when I take a shower. Those "hobos" are some hard working folks with an often thankless job.

About a year ago I took a shower on a 30 minute break at 4:00 am. Showers should be ready and available at that time, right? Well, turns out the night shift hadn't shown up and the day shift guy had just shown up to start taking care of the backlog of showers to be cleaned. I thanked the guy for coming in during a snowstorm, told him I really appreciated his helping us truckers.

He hustled to get a shower ready for me. I left him the smallest bill in my wallet, a $10 bill. As I was filling my mug with coffee he came up to me with tears in his eyes. Said nobody does anything like that.

I think we should all leave consideration and remember to thank them. A clean shower is a good thing.

when I was a newbie and still with my trainer, I showered at some crude truck stop with no sandals. Got some painful athletes foot that lasted weeks. Lol some things you just gotta learn the hard way.

Had beef tips at the TA in OKC, the one on the west side.
I think it was the sickest I've ever been in my adult life.
Puked for 36 hours, diarrhea too. Drank water just to have something to puke up.
That was about 7 or 8 years ago.

I stopped brushing my teeth in truck stops. Every now and again my gums would get infected.
I once saw this dude that looked like he was from Ethiopia, rush into the head, sink bathe, but what got me was he washed his feet in the sink, I'm brushing my teeth two sinks down, he ran out, I was going to offer him a shower, but since then, I just brush at the back of the trailer.

    Grijon and Mudguppy Thank this.

Pertussis aka whooping cough. Got it in KS. Coughing til I barfed. A Z-Pac kicked it, tho. The labs for it (in Salina of all places) was $1,700. No insurance.

I do the bottled water + toothbrush method mainly because I don't feel like walking back to the restroom just for that. Follow with a splash of Listerine, check locks, crawl into bed.

Well most of the bottle goes towards rinsing the brush.
I take great care of my teeth, champion flosser.:thumbright:
After I saw that dude wash his feet in the sink, I thought yea, that's a rap.
I will when I shower, but no more men's rooms.

I had several "soft" teeth that had formed over the years. I don't know why- I brush regularly. Maybe lack of flouride in well water? Anyway, I was eating a slice of pizza a few hours before I was supposed to be at work and one of the teeth cracked in half. It was searing pain, but it subsided a little and I went to work as scheduled.

Later that night, the pain got so intense that I had tears running down my face and had to pull over because I thought I was going to pass out from the pain. I went to a Walgreens and got just about every tooth pain med they had. Nothing worked. The pain finally went away enough to tolerate and I let it fall out on its own over the course of the following few weeks. The other ones are coming out now, but have been generally pain free. (despite my user name, I still have more than one tooth left- just anticipating the day)

Also cut my wrist open once while cutting cardboard wrapping off a crate and the box cutter slipped. Almost passed out from blood loss on that one, but got it bandaged up and went on my way.

Regarding folks that wash their feet in the sink, they are most likely Muslim, preparing for prayer. While it would certainly be best if they brought a basin and washed their feet in privacy, I recognize their need. Perhaps truck stops might find a more hygienic solution to their requirements.
