If the primary driving is on highway the Volvo will do fine. I didn't know if the majority was quarry work. Soft ground is hell on drivlines. The Mack and Volvo are basically the same except the cab. Though Mack has more vocational options due to their history and intended uses. The drivers will appreciate the better ride in the Volvo.

I am thinking the 13l is what I will be going with. Looking at the 1550 torque or 1650 either way. Need to just go up to the Volvo dealer and talk to a salesman.

You'll be alright on my day cabs I hauled a stepdeck loaded going sacraments to Reno and back everyday having to climb donner pass year round 5days/week didn't have any issues. Pedal to,the floor and let the truck do its thing. If you're running a lot of cold winters Volvo will be very driver appreciated. Ours were pretty standard city spec'd trucks gearing wise. So,if you run a lot of hills vs flat land depends on the set up you workout with the salesman

    Hi Dave,

    This is a lifesaving information!
    Thank you so much.
Now, please recommend path forward for me. This very issue happened on my 2012 Volvo and Volvo dealer where I was getting parts quote to fix it did not say a word about this coverage, so I found a replacement engine and took my engine of the truck. Engine currently in my shop.
Should I put the engine back on the truck and tow it to the Volvo dealer or just bring the engine and al parts to them to have it fixed as described above? Am I voiding the warranty by taking the engine off and taking the failed gears off?
If I can speak to you over the phone, that would be great as well!!!
    Thank you again in advance!

Dave, what is the price range for rebuild on a d13? or the Ishift?

I saw an ad for a 2017 730 that said "no more regens". What's the story on that?

for the D12..(wouldn't think the D13 would be much more) Volvo list 3 in frames
Basic: pistons, rings, liners, and mains kit around $4,000
Better: all above plus valves, injector's, and turbo kit about $9,000
Best: all above plus new head, cam, and bearing. kit about $11,000
plus belts, hoses, oil, water filters about $1,500
labor for the best is 40 hr's
