Moving back to Dallas is high on my priority list right now. My father is getting up there in age and is starting to have surgeries right and left! In fact it took a rather heated phone call before the dispatcher understood the severity of my problem. My dad had a very bad reaction to his medications after his spinal stenosis surgery and was doing very poorly in recovery. I could only say so many times that I was going to Dallas to see my father! It just made me realize should something happen my dispatcher will be more concerned about covering the loads than he is about my family. I can always get another job but I only have one father!

Yes, he should go be with his father, ASAP. Trucking jobs are a dime a dozen and dear old dad is only there one time in a lifetime. Pack your bags and move; you'll never regret it.
Coastal Transport probably has a terminal near your Dallas home.

Not sure what happened to those other posts but I'm glad they're gone. I worked alongside my parents for nearly 25 years in the family owned business. I'm very close with both my mother and father and will move heaven and earth should they need anything.

You're not alone. The guy who has his #### together is usually the guy who the company leans on to pull through for them. That usually translates into more work/responsibility because they take advantage of that. The way I look at it is if the bills are getting paid, you have spending money left over and you aren't stressed out/perpetually pissed off because of your job, life's good

that last part is where the rubber side goes skyward. I have no back up. I have to work when sick. We load off of railcars and i have dropped my drawers and squatted behind them because if i hadn't things were gonna get messy...haha. i can't plan anything on the weekends because i never know if i will be working. I have not been having much fun lately.

Good post. He has a salary that he was fine with until the other guy goofed. Now he's on call on Saturday and find it intolerable. He's looking at the deal the other guy gets. But if the other guy had to work the weekends, would he complain? No.

"But Six, it's unfair. He's off every weekend. I can't even plan anything."

He is also on the bottom of the totem pole. If there are cuts to be made he's up first at the axe. Then the office personnel. You're safe. I would stay put. Ruthless is right. Take the other guy out of the equation. And stop with the negative conversations with the hotheaded loser. He is purposely poisoning you.

    Ruthless Thanks this.

I'd probably give them my walking papers and move back to Dallas. Nobody is going to cop that kind of attitude with me over some dime a dozen driving job and I've had to ditch a couple in the past when I realized the mutual respect wasn't there and they basically didn't give a crap about playing it fair with me.

Point b.) #2 is that it sounds like you're also making the classic mistake that probably 90% of America makes...got yourself backed into a corner with expensive car payments and probably other needless extravagance that keeps you locked into a wage slave mentality. If you had a few bucks in the bank and lived a lower overhead lifestyle you'd have told these guys to toss off a long time ago. Something to think about.

no corner, I replaced a 2003 S10 with a Ram2500 that could pull my 5th wheel which I have been living in since going the the oilfield. It's a plain Jane Tradesman, white with basic everything. It cost 34K out the door which I put 10K down. Far from extravagant.

My purpose for posting is not to piss you off, but actually try to help you. One of the first things I tell students in school is to avoid the negative talk. There's always some other student that will have something bad to say about the instructors. When rookies go into orientation, theres always someone there on a negative campaign.

You have a decent job that pays you well. You make decent money, you are home, they even treat you decent, YET you prefer the negative. You have chosen to drink the poison of the company chump, and have become the Disciple of Chump. It like one of those awful reality shows where a woman complain about the weight of a 3 carat diamond.

You want to really know the sad part? Chump is worried about his job, and he knows he's heading towards the chopping block. So in prolong his stay, he has to convince his biggest rival to throw in the towel. 3 guesses who that person is. You sir, would be a grand idiot, if you allowed the Chump to make you leave.

"But Six, ITS NOT FAIR! I am being punished for his screw ups!"

You sound convinced. If you were a woman, you would be pregnant with Chump's baby.

Ever read "Othello"? It's about a medieval military commander who allows others to poison his mind against his beautiful and faithful wife. She tries and tries to convince her husband that she is faithful, but he murders her anyway. Those type stories are called Tragedies. You are in a Tragedy.
