I recommend others do so as well. Preliminary discussion with representative of Edmonton Police Service indicates they have an interest in continuing to hand out such violation tickets, yet assigned officers have little to no knowledge of commercial vehicle law.

Sorry for being cynical, but
- Making the direct connection between bogus fines and the arena financing is pretty damning. How did you get this information, straight from the mayor? Or the police chief?
- What is the difference between a preliminary discussion a discussion?

Ha, ha! I actually intended this to be a serious thread about the little guy standing up to the 1% and fighting the fine that could not possibly be avoided while carrying out the assigned drudgery of the lumpenproletariat and so on and not the Edmonton Comedy Festival. I can't believe there is any driver who feels the administration of justice has served him well when he is fined for driving as dispatched, in the safest and most reasonable manner for public safety. Etc, etc, blah, blah, etc.
At least one court date is now set. There will be dramatic emotional pleas before the Magistrate as well as gasps of horror and fainting in the spectators benches. -
A buddy of mine got $7000 in fines in the Leduc industrial park today from an officer that said he didnt have the right permits for the roads.

Some of these municipal fines may be related to the Edmonton cops discovering last year that trucks can be the mother lode of municipal fine revenue. Instead of directing police resources at the outrageously dangerous driving habits of every single dump truck driver in Edmonton, the cops decided to focus their energy on administering an extra-juicy municipal fine of $3,042,719.00 to Edmonton dump truck owner Avtar Gill for being overweight (and dump trucks in Edmonton are still running overweight and being driven dangerously).

You also need a Leduc County Permit in Nisku. (Or any other county you want to operate in, that's not a secret.) I recall a few years ago Sandy's Light Oilfield had bed truck with a pump loaded on it that was leaving tracks on the road in Nisku and he got nailed for $28,000.00 and about 4 years ago, Jonnys Oilfield got hit with a $22,000.00 fine in Nisku.

Gill had about 180 trucks running illegally.
