    Originally I was going to start with company and move over to lease, after having 2 lease trainers for tnt (1st had to leave for medical issues), and having some good conversation with my fm, I'm going to jump into lease right away.

    As a solo rookie I'd highly discourage it. You're making 72% of the load. I was told by a source who works for the power division at prime that overall it'll average to 72% of $1.80 which means you'll be running $1.29 on average.

    Why are you so eager to jump into it right away? The lease will always be there, but good luck to whichever route you chose to go

    I wish you the best of luck as a lease operator. I just wouldn't recommend you jump into a lease right now.

    Do you have two to six months of reserves saved? Have you ever ran a business successfully and profitably before? Have you researched what it takes to run a business? Why do you want to be a lease operator right now? Have you read the lease contract from start to finish? Do you understand it completely and fully? Do you understand that this is a business and not just a bigger paycheck?

    These are all questions you should have answers to before you start signing up for lease.

    I'm not trying to discourage you from being a lease operator, I do think you should spend some time as a solo company driver learning the Freight lanes, the ups and downs of this industry, and how to successfully drive a tractor to maximize revenue at the expensive prime. Run as a company driver for 6 months at least, and pretend you are a lease operator when you make your decisions on feeling when you make your decisions on repairs, and when you make decisions on how fast you run.

    1 secret Prime doesn't tell Driver is if you jump straight to lease and you fail as a lease operator, you have a hard time switching back to become in a a company driver because you have no prior experience as a company driver. If you have a track record of being a good company driver for 6 months to a year before you become a lease operator switching back to a company driver is not difficult.
