Well the settlements I saw was kinda funny actually. It looked like he earned twice the amount of his company colleagues on cpm but a little over half his "revenue" was swallowed up by the cost of the truck, fuel and all the other fees. Which in the end, since he got loads dispatched to him, he netted 350,505 a week. In his mind "he was paying off the truck". Seriously, what a fool. I've also seen trainers' settlements, and those guys earn more because they run 6k+ miles, but with their "smart fueling" and not idling a lot and whatever other money saving trick they use, they actually make what they would make if they financed a truck the normal way.bigblue2016 Thanks this.

If it weren't for Schneider I would not be a L/P driver anywhere else.
Nowhere else offers point and click loads paid on %, lots of drop and hook, no brokers/dispatchers, lots of contract freight, endless OCs and drop lots etc etc.
Interstate distributor company started recently a similar program. I called them to get info out of curiosity.
They were trying to get me to apply and they offered to take screen shots of their load board and send them to me.
I said great, this is what I'm earning now.. if I see I can do better there I'll apply and consider it.
Never got those emails or heard back from them lol.
I can take the truck I'm paying for elsewhere if I want so I keep my eyes opened.bigblue2016 Thanks this. -
I don't know all those fees and etc for specific numbers at that carrier.
All I know is $0.85 a mile is very low and used general estimates.
There's huge costs in running a truck, paying for fuel and a $150,000 truck ain't cheap.
My point was there's not a lot left over when you look at numbers after costs when running at a cheap mileage rate such as Stevens.bigblue2016 Thanks this. -
If you run a used truck on a monthly payment on percetage pay doing in state routes and regional routes, I think you'll maintain a higher revenue than that of an OTR lease operator. You don't need to be an OTR guy to be an owner operator.and you don't need load boards either.

And since I mentioned the Stevens driver I'm assuming (not something we discussed) that he has a sweetheart deal on the truck, probably one that was rescued from another driver. Whatever he has is not the norm according to him and he's happy, but most with Stevens are definitely not better off than company drivers.
bigblue2016 and freightwipper Thank this. -
Yeah O/Os can run endless different ways.
Long haul generally does not pay well per mile -
But the only important thing you left out. Can I run the loads I want, and only run long runs? That's all that matters, right?
