I'm looking at going back to Maverick. Wanting new info on Glass Division if anyone is on it now. Are the miles good? I've read nasty stories of 7-10hr. live load times. That would really cut into miles. I just want to know if 2300-2800 is consistent? I know the week I go home it won't be. Thanks in advance

Thinking Maverick glass used to be the glass account that Schneider Flatbed did in the 90s. I started in 92 and loved it. Had all new equipment. We would haul glass out of Laurinburg NC. We would haul glass out and come back empty. After a couple years they started backhauls.. our loads were always pre loaded at Laurinburg. Things changed though bu the time I left in 98. Lot of waiting there and Ottawa IL.

I'm with Maverick's glass division and I LOVE it! The miles are definitely there. I'm averaging 2900 miles a week. Now things are slowing down a bit. This past week I only ran 2377 miles (871 empty). Your pay doesn't change (empty or loaded), plus driving empty help your mpg. As of December last year we were told to turn in our lumber tarps, supposedly were not hauling any flatbed loads anymore, but that's hearsay. I'm at 52cpm and I get a 6cpm bonus (fuel, miles per day, idling, on time delivery) so I have the potential of earning 58 cpm (love those checks). Right now is the perfect time to get back in that maroon truck. They're running drivers from Carlisle Pa to Fresno Ca. I'm not sure if it's true but some drivers even said they've been deadheaded ALL the way back to Carlisle. They're desperate for drivers to help with moving glass to that plant. They even recruited 27 flatbed drivers to do so (scary). Come on back and enjoy this money while it lasts

Yup, Maverick bought sni glass back in 05 or 06. Laurinburg which was a schneider yard now a maverick yard with people who use to work for Schneider still there.

Laurinburg still preload and Ottawa is preload now

I remember starting out in the glass division, I thought because of the color of my skin I was being treated unfair. One time I watched 3 drivers in front of me get loaded and the loaders used the cranes to drape the tarps over the glass but when it was my turn they said they couldn't do that. So I had to pull out of the bay and use my ladder to tarp it myself. While tarping I looked up and saw that they were using the crane again for other drivers. I was p'd off. Come to find out those loaders take bribes. LOL it's sad but true. It's a guy up in WI that loves crawfish and salt water taffys. I bought him some salt water taffys one time, I had a 16:00 appt FOLLOWING DAY. I was there at 2 am, I was putting up my privacy curtains and he came and told me to back in a bay door. I thought my trainer was full of it, but he wasn't.

Which plant take bribes? The one in MI told me they didn't pull tarps, twice, and at the last time while I was huffing a tarp up a ladder, they did it for the driver next to me. Idc about the double drop tarp that's easy but the step or flat deck is a hassle

The one in Owattana (spell check). If you're talking about Carrollton than yes, if you get the right person just offer to buy them lunch. They pulled my tarps for me, but I was with my trainer at the time. I'm not sure what he did or said but they pulled our tarps. He got out the truck with a bag, what was in it, I don't know. But he'll make sandwiches, buy candy, bring sodas/gatorade and that'll cut our waiting time WAY down, if we had to wait at all. Don't just throw your hand on the table if you know what I mean. It was a few people at a place in Carrollton Texas who got in trouble for taking bribes due to upsetting other drivers (from different companies) and the unloaders won't even make eye contact with you. Start off with a small convo, don't be a pest by asking every 45 minutes when will you be unloaded. Ease your bribe to them LOL
