My 979 was hacked by the golden screwdriver at 222 CB shop in PA. It looked nice but the meter like went out, as well as the starlite display. A tech a galaxy said they are not very well manufactured.
So I sold and traded it for a old Galaxy 44v and bought a new dx959 that I had DTB peak, tune and align. It does not drift, and people think it sounds like a Connex. They say my audio is beautiful.
I'll have DTB look at this 44v. But I can only use one radio at a time, and my 959 is so nice.
Looking to buy a Galaxy DX 979

A lot of people thought they were cool when they first came into prominence. It was something uncommon and different. But, it didn't take long for most to realize they are just down right annoying if you use them all the frigging time!

Everyone remember that a 979 still has that little sticker on the back end of the radio that says FCC, means its cut to 4 watts RMS factory, spend the money on a 2 digit radio 44, 55,88, or 99 and get a real ten meter radio and quit playing around with this 4 watt stuff...That being said, I build cobras with echo, noise toys, and nitro knobs and make a killing off of them, cause people think they are cool, but since no one talks on a radio anymore it doesnt matter.

10 meters require a FFC license, which I have no use for, as long as I can reach between 5-10 miles, I'm good, I did for a bit entertain the idea of getting a ham radio license, but quickly dropped the thought
