    As mentioned above, if it passed your inspection then there is no documentation to be completed therefor nothing to keep from day to day.

    I'm a one man operation, one tractor, one trailer. I have NEVER ever filled out what you call a DVIR. During any kind of inspection rather its the scales or my B.I.T. program, they have never ask for a DVIR, I'm in California and stay in California. I don't know what happens out of California.

    You are exempt from having to keep records or do one then.

    The only thing that is required of me is my maintenance records for my 90 day inspection. And my hours of duty.

    Pretrip documentation is not required by law. Post trip is. Also, there is no law requiring a post trip be a minimum of 15 minutes. I don't where where people keep coming up with that number but it's all over this forum.

    The post trip documentation has not been required since December of 2014 unless a defect is found.
