And here I thought that us "auto drivers" couldn't use the tube down the shifter boot because their isn't one on an auto... Who knew it was directly connected to our collective manliness... or the lack there of... Silly me.
Again, I just don't understand why us "auto drivers" create such insecurities in "Twue Twuckers" that personal attacks are the result.

I have never not seen a trucker who would not mess with another about what he is driving. I think it is part of the culture and the fun. Try not to be so thin skinned. I will most likely be driving an auto one day myself.
You should have heard all the Big R jokes back in the day. Those poor guys took it all in stride and their big money to the bank.
I remember the time I suddenly got food illness going around a city at rush hour with no place to pull the rig into......it was not good.7-UP Thanks this. -
It's the last 200 that gets me. Over!

I'm working on a formula to convert miles to hours to pay. 400 miles @ 50mph = 8 hours?
So I make a pay-per-day range:
$0.50 per mile = $200 in 8 hours
$1.00 per mile = $400 in 8 hours
Equates to weekly:
x 5 days week = $1000 - $2000
Equates to monthly:
x 4 weeks = $4000 - $8000
Hahaha Yeah, right. These numbers are soooo off!! 8 hours isn't always that many miles.... I've heard of people spending hours waiting to be loaded, waiting in traffic, or being inspected at the weight station. Don't mind me. I'm just rambling about nothing. I'm not even a trucker. Yet.BostonTanker Thanks this. -

[QUOdrink 8PA, post: 5067403, member: 174247"]I'm reading threads about "running hard" and don't know how it's possible to do that without needing to take a break for 10 mins or so and to take a piss. Do these people not drink anything while driving?[/QUOTE]
Try driving 800 miles without a break.
pee in a bottle as you drive, properly dispose of bottle at your destination. -
Yeah, everyone #####es about the sitting and waiting but what they don't realize is that they are doing nothing. And if you divide that $200 by 8 you get $25 per hour. If you stretch that out to 11 hours then you are still over $18. You actually spend more time rolling than you do waiting. Before you start condemning a wage really figure out how many hours you are actually working, i.e. doing something productive not stuffing your face watching TV or playing video games. Yeah your clock is rolling but you are still doing nothing and it all averages out. BTW if you are only driving 400 miles in a day you either have short hauls or you need to keep the left door closed.
You are correct, sometimes it is more and sometimes it is less.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
When I was OTR I would stop about every 100-150 miles, take a piss and load check(flatbed). Never took more than 5 min. And doing that I could stay plenty hydrated drinking water all day. If you can't stop for 2-5 mins a few times a day, then something isn't right. Those very short breaks shouldn't set you back much at all by the end of your shift.
