We had 500 lb plus guy in our cdl class. He could not shift into 6th gear without opening the door and sliding over....and he was too big to put on the seat belt. The instructor drove the truck home. He used the parking Brake button instead of the service brake. Apparently he couldn't move his feet around very well...once he forgot to release the trailer brakes and drug 8 new tires across the parking lot....as all the students heard over the CB when the instructor was yelling at him.

When we went to the dot to do our road test, the examiner told the instructors to not bring him back to try again.

I would never get into a truck with him, as his bo was pretty bad.

Sorry for high jacking the thread.

If you can climb into the cab, the bunk ain't much different. Maybe mount a spare steering wheel up there to grab!

The only danger I could imagine is trying to come down drunk and falling. It is pretty high.

Truck driving is not a good job choice if your already way over weight. When i was at Roadmaster in Tampa for schooling they had an early 20s guy come out to the test trucks to see if he could get himself up the steps into the truck. You would have thought he just ran a 100yrd dash he was so out of breath from trying to get up the steps. It took him a good 2 minutes and his pants fell down around his knees. The instructor had to help them back up as there was no way in hell he could let a hand loose from a grab handle to pull them up. It was pretty sad. Never saw him again after that day. I do have to say it was pretty crappy of Roadmaster to do this in front of part of the class with us all watching it.
