I worked for Transport America sense Oct. last year and after 4 months I got a letter saying I failed their sleep study. No one can give me a straight answer as to why it took four months. Their clinic pulled my physical card till I get a CPAP. I was told that if I quit I can never drive again, is this true?

You are free to get a second opinion....have a sleep study performed by an actual sleep specialist...somebody NOT affiliated with your company in any way. If that confirms the diagnosis, then I'd say your best option going forward would be to comply with the requirements and get the CPAP because any DOT physical you take you are asked if you have ever been diagnosed with a sleep disorder such as sleep apnea. If you lie to get your card by saying "no", if you ever have a wreck and it is discovered that you lied, you'll be in pretty deep doo-doo. However, if the specialist you see for that second opinion comes back and says the first doc is a quack and you DON'T have sleep apnea, then when you go in for a new DOT physical and they ask, you can inform the doc that while a CPAP salesman claimed you had it, an actual sleep specialist confirmed that you do not following a legitimate sleep study. Supply whatever documentation from the sleep specialist you may have to confirm that you do NOT have sleep apnea, and get your 2-year card.
The only way you'll never drive again is if you DON'T seek a second opinion and allow that diagnosis to stand...because as long as you've been diagnosed and don't treat it (i.e. CPAP), then you won't be able to get a valid medical card. Sure, you can LIE and get one....but it'll be voided as soon as the lie is discovered. -
Just wait until the quacks figure out how to make a buck from truckers with the Dicky-Do Disorder. It'll hit the fan then.

Get a copy of the sleep study done by your present company and get a second opinion from an independent Sleep center. If they will not give you a copy of the report contact the state medical board for further advice.

I've been using a cpap machine for a long time. On the physical when it asks if I suffer from any breathing disorders, I put no. I'm being treated hence I don't suffer from them.
