Choose a lower gear so it is easier on the engine. Engine should be turning about 1500 rpm, if your lugging it at less it will make it boil over. When you get to the top refill the coolant that you blew off.

...or there is something wrong with your truck, and you're going to be sitting on the side of the road sooner or later.

Not supposed to "have coolant going everywhere " under any circumstances. Only thing you're doing wrong is driving a truck that needs immediate [mechanical] corrective action.

Everytime that happened to me it was on of the two APU coolant lines running from the reservoir to the APU. I would just splice slide the band and re-fasten and our shop would give it the ok.

What are you running your rpms at when your climbing the hills? Your fan should come on when your temperature gets too hot.

Guys ... This is not a temperature problem. Let's stop wasting time dealing in secondary issues. A cooling system with an apparent breach is a bit more important than gear and rpm used.

If I had to concern myself with working my engine too hard to avoid burning it up, I'd be looking for another job.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
So it was probably all my fault. Pushing it to hard and the cap was as tight as it should have been.

I quit doing ltl cause breaking down pallets of starbucks and taking a 48ft tt down back country road to deliver residential crap gets old. It's not all that great. And pretty soon my wife's gonna be going with me anyway. So it's a win win for me. Thanks again and be safe out there..

    Lepton1 and Chewy352 Thank this.

I busted a leak in the coolant tank on my old truck climbing over White Pass on US12 in Washington.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.
