    Default skin.

Can you PM me exactly the files you need? and I will email them to you tomorrow. Or is it just the navi/logs folder?

Mark, is there a way to back up my device until the release of the El Capitain dock? I save every shipper and consignee into folders, I'd hate to lose it all if my gps has a problem. Thanks!

Save the Navi/User and the RM/User folders. These retain your files.

    Thanks,
    Mark

A few questions for Mark ...

How does Rand McNally implement "truck restrictions" updates. With device updates or map updates?

How many truck restrictions (as a percentage of the current snapshot) would you say are permanent or long term, as opposed to temporary construction restrictions?

(I'm asking the above questions as a Garmin user who must suffer through huge map updates in order to get erroneous truck restrictions removed and it sucks but I suspect RM does it the same way)

Is it possible to download a map update from RM's website to an SD card, then later apply that to a RM trucker GPS device? i.e. does the device have to be visible and "online" (connected) for the software to allow the application of the map and/or device update.

    Thanks

It is a separate DB that is Proprietary. It is passed by the Dock for the TND and Wi-Fi for the Tablets. Quarterly. RM does use HERE data, but supplements it with their DB also.

A new file was started to deal with the ever changing speed limits. If it is a major change on a major stretch of road then it will be pushed quarterly via an Incremental file or if it only a small section then that is pushed to HERE along with the major change to incorporate them into the Main Map Set.

A construction project has to be long term and I if I remember correctly, a project of 3-4 months only on major types of roads. Temporary projects are not looked at since by the time the file is pushed quarterly the project would be completed.

Yes, you have to have the device connected as it "views" the type of device and the mapset that it should have. If a x10 or x20 model it will know to push to the SD Card, but the x30's or Tablet it will push internally.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Update - we think we have resolved the freezing/application errors/slowness/ issues. I need a few users whom get these constantly daily to be willing to work with me to test in live long haul driving.

Randy and I have been working on his 730 issue for the past two weeks and we narrowed it down to a corrupted file. So far he has been running great the last few days. So instead of returning his 5th 730, and still having the same issue, his 5th TND is running like a dream... I personally thank him here for taking his time daily and the many text messages daily with me remoting into his unit almost daily to pass files or gather files.
Without his help he would have been super frustrated. It turned out it was a file he got from his 720. I am now trying to duplicate how it became corrupted in the file transfer process.

If you wish to help, I would remote into your computer to gather files and to push files or if you are computer savvy I can send you the files via Hightail and you download/install them.. It would require texting back and forth for updates daily as this is a hot priority.

I am not using you to resolve the issue or test Beta Versions for my own personal whim. I have logged in many hours of driving and I simply cannot duplicate the issue like some users have. So I am reaching out for your help.

    Thanks,
    mark
