It's a lot of companies that will hire you fresh out of school..swift,prime,cr England,PAM,USA and so on. What school are you attending?
Ifyougotit Thanks this. -
The issue will be your age. Insurance companies have age requirements. I do believe most want you to be at least 21-23. I would talk to a few companies to get a idea for their qualifications. You can look on their websites. Swift, werner, us express, etc.

Your age is your biggest limiting factor.
@Chinatown will be along with companies that hire 21 year olds shortly. By the time you're 23 you should have some pretty good options.Ifyougotit Thanks this. -
I will be attending sage in new Stanton

21 for interstate commerce is federal law. Stop with the insurance company nonsense.WildTiger1990 and Ifyougotit Thank this.

Your right but it is a insurance companies that decided whether they want to take the risk and look at the age requirements on most companies. I told him to talk to a few companies to see what they say

The school talked me out of starting classes when I was 18 but I know it's the only thing I would do that I would like so I'm not going to let them talk me out of it this time
-
I believe they told you that because of your age. They didn't want you to waste your time because it would be hard for you to get a job at that age. Keep your dream alive just know the qualifications so you can plan accordingly

If you are up for it, relocate. Move to Texas. Why? Texas is the biggest state, so intrastate limits gives you a big area to drive.
Chinatown can chime in with specific companies, but you CAN drive interstate right now with the agriculture exception. Several members of this forum started out that way. In Texas you would start the planting or harvest season taking combines and other equipment to farms, then likely work your way up north to North Dakota. Rinse and repeat with the seasons. It would give you experience in flatbed and heavy haul. Maybe learn how to operate combines. How cool is THAT for a young 'un?Longarm Thanks this. -
Maybe, you can work for a company on the dock. I know that some LTL companies hiring and train drivers from within... it will get you into a company that will help you.
You don't want to get your CDL and then not have access to a job because of your age and insurance... -
Yes you can drive in state. As much as the companies are holler for drivers. Shouldn't be a problem
