Anything the same size as a cobra 29.
darthanubis, melsno and flood Thank this. -
A 29 fits as long as it has a front plate mounted mic. If you have an older 76 , like mine, the mic screws into the side and won't fit. I had to mount it under the the "knockout plate".
Those holes will accept small bolts so you can mount a bracket underneath to run any radio you wish.
You can put the plastic parts back in to clean up the look of the overhead.melsno Thanks this. -
The side mounted mic will work . Have to put in in tilted to the right , with out the mic . Once in the hole reach around and put the mic on. Ran a Galaxy 959 in mine for years. Not easy but doable.

They make a plate w/strap that mounts to the dash that I prefer.
25(2)+2, rabbiporkchop, slim6596 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've got an old ranger with side mike, it fits in the overhead, barely, but can be done.
Problem with the dash mounts, is that you radio can take quite a beating being mounted on dash compared to hanging from roof mount.darthanubis and melsno Thank this. -
Not if you strap it down tight. I also put about 1 1/2" piece of foam under mine. I've been doing it this way for years with a Galaxy radio with out any problems.......once the common problems of a Galaxy were cured years ago......i.e. bad solder joints. No re-occurances.darthanubis and melsno Thank this.
