The warehouse does their best to package the paint securely, but an unanticipated hard brake or a hard bump of the dock or catching a curb cornering can cause a pallet of 5 gallon pails to topple over and leak. Just have to be careful moving 40,000 pounds of paint down the road. Unloading can also be challenging, but you get the idea.
Per diem is not optional because there is no benefit to the per mile rate. Its .41 cents per mile with .07 per mile per diem.

Just to clarify; is that .41 + .07 per diem or .34 + .07 per diem?
-
.41 per mile + .07 per diem = .48 total.

Was behind one of your trucks Westbound on I10 Monday morning heading toward Coachella when a gust of wind blew the back of his trailer directly sideways about 10 feet. Next wide shoulder he pulled over, maybe for new underwear.

Regardless, that kind of trailer action will get your attention.

About to start the last day of my first week here with SWC! I've made a good choice to come here!
First 2 days at the yard in the classroom. We went over hazmat and Smith System. Then got on the road Wednesday morning with my trainer. We've been back at the yard every night. Since I live so far away, the trainer has let me stay in his truck at night.
Today, the trainer had to take the day off, so i will run 2 short loads from the plant to the DC alone. Hope I can handle the e-logs. I have always been on paper logs. I'm sure i'll be fine.
During the first 2 weeks, while with the trainer, they pay @$15/hour.
That's about all i have to report today.

Glad to hear things are going well for you.
The trick to elogs is remembering to change your status. I've been on them for the past 5 years and still forget at times. Fortunately I can edit them myself (all but line 3). I worked for a place that didn't allow the driver to edit. I had to call in all the time to have safety edit them. One of the reasons I don't work for them anymore was that dispatch could (and did) edit them to serve their needs but I had to call safety? Yeah, I'm out.tmslogistics Thanks this. -
Well, I ran solo on Friday. Only been using the logs for 2 days prior to that. lol. I know i'll catch on with a little repetition, but I know I screwed some things up, too. Oh well....just growing pains.
One of the trainers told me that the first 2 weeks were paid out hourly....he though $15/hour. I logged onto HR and it says $25....we shall see. So, I had 42 hours by Thursday evening, and then I should get paid by the mile for my Friday.
Also, something was mentioned that we don't go up to the full .41+.07 until the 6 month mark. Any information on that, Sprinks?
The unloading doesn't seem to be that difficult....of course, if you are unable to park the truck on level ground, it becomes a little bit of work to push those pallets out with the forklift while on an incline. Trainer told me that they did away with the hand unload stores years ago. Of course, there might be some left in your particular area.Longarm Thanks this.
