JD,
Didn't notice your sigline on the first reading. Jesus can be an aid in keeping a level head on your shoulders. Not to mention a pleasant demeaner on even when dealing with a difficult customer or dispatcher. This started as a question about PUMPKINLAND, didn't it? Anyway I think thats what caught my eye. I had been completely away from the trucking world for 16 years when I decided to go back. Wanted to go out and git-a-ride and lease on somewhere. No place decent would hire me. Checked out a bunch of companies. Chose Schnieder. It was not a mistake. Never met any one in a supervisory or teaching role there who was obnoxious or impossible to get along with. School went smoothly. Had some laughs messing with the instructors till I fessed up to my years ago experience. Went thru school in Dallas, whatever they call the second phase in Houston to pull tank. Finished my year obligation to pay for school with no complaints. Bought my truck already leased on with Miller Transporters. (they pay commission, not milage) Wouldn't O/O on a milage basis. Thats the only reason I left schnieder. Left Miller a year later over their dedicated load rates and forced dispatch. Went to Dana Transport. Thought I'd retire from there, was very happy. A year later tank freight was slowing down and they just kept hiring trucks. Got to where you sat a day or two everywhere you went. Finally Jan. this year I remembered what one old trucker told me about pulling company trailers. Your choices are too limited to what they want you to do or put up with. If you don't own trailer as well as truck you are already half way out of business. Bought a flat bed, went back to specialized where I was when I quit business in 87. Any way Schnieder is a good place to be a company driver.

Dave, Glad you had a good experience at Schneider. I find most bad experiences are usually due to a bad attitude on the drivers part. Don't get me wrong, I know dispatch, shipper, receiver, and other drivers can,and will, make things difficult for us. There is nothing we can do to stop it from happening, however, it is how WE CHOSE to deal with those difficulties that makes the difference.
I chose to allow my relationship with Christ, and The Word of God, be my guiding factors.
BTW, your my neighbor. I live in San Antonio.AfterShock Thanks this. -

Hell with all that I throw my sack in the back and can take my rig anywhere. These people seam to use drivers like comities expendable and of course cover their liability by their 1/2 ### training to keep the insurance companies rates low.
