A 650 hp ISX in a 2000 Freightliner Century would overheat. It was running 230 F through Texas doing the speed limit. I turned the ac off and rolled through with the windows down in the summer and it was still running 225 F. Also had a 600 hp ISX in a 1996 Peterbilt 377 which while pulling a long grade would get rather hot.

There is a certain hill in Death Valley that has warning signs telling you to turn the ac in your vehicle off to avoid overheating. I turn my ac up on high on that hill and the fan stays on pretty much the entire hill.

You sure it was an ISX?

It was, it was not the original engine to the truck. It had been swapped in there sometime around 2005.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

Been along time since I've been out there, but are you thinking about Baker Grade on I-15?

it's in the design of the radiator, most of them are aluminum and not copper and metal, these days as well

I love them T800W's. Not as much as the H's though but apparently Kenworth discontinued the H because there wasn't much a market for it.

Town's Pass in Death Valley. 8% grade on the front and 9% on the back side. Two lane road.

Can someone please give me a towel? Need to wipe the drool of the keyboard and screen. For me, old or new it is going to be a Star Car.
