Really it in not true. Thin wires are not so strong mechanically and easy to damage with vibrations. Thats why trucks with multiplexing and thin wires are weaker,

Ok, your favorite truck is DAF XF. Pay attention that it has many problems with wiring on cab to chassis.

To solve this problem Paccar fill wiring harness with foam and if wire is damaged we have to add wires.

The same problem with Volvo, Iveco Stralis, KW and Pete.

Ok, what truck has no this problem? Yes, Daimler Actros and Cascadia!

they use these wires for power and CAN transmitting

Problem with low voltage wiring (6 ore 12V) are connections. Not wires.

You're right, but wiring means wires + connectors. Thinner cabling has less problems with vibrations, because there is less mechanical strain on the connectors. Of course the connectors must be of high quality! The wire you showed is a standard 230V round wire, I doubt if they use that.

Guy-Rossignol.jpg i really doubt the engine will dive under the cab in the case of a violent frontal collision with another truck

Caesar, I wanna pay your attention that AC and DC connections are totally different becouse AC does not catalize corrosion. DC connectors are very cencetive to agressive envirement.

I guess, no reason to tell you about electro-chemical reactions and why they do not go on if current changes its polarity.

I used to work with 600 V DC powered trolly buses. And I saw many problems with high voltage DC wires, connections, engine controllers, DC-DC converters.

I wanna tell you truth about 24v. Really in Europe after the WW-II was THE BIG problem with cooper. And when engines go bigger European companies, like Bosch, Valeo and other were faced problem that they cant supply market with starters!

Bosch offered 24V starter motor for automotive industry.

Before they had experience with 24 V for aircraft electrics (to save weight).

In USSR big appetit of militaries used all resourses and USSR slowly switched to 24V too. And for home use they switched from 120V to 220 (240)V too.

daf105paccar and Cat sdp Thank this.

Ok. About Mack on EU market.

Yes, now Mack is a part of Volvo groupe, but before 2006 Renault truck was Mack for EU market and yes, they used same engines like in USA.
