I have been off the road since December getting an inframe done. last week I got my truck back and was ready to go back on the road. I quickly discovered my DOT number quietly and for no apparent reason went inactive.
My MC number is active and so is my authority but somehow us dot number went inactive.
I called the fmcsa they say they had nothing to do with it and i need to call my state. so I called the Louisiana dot and I got the usual run around kept getting transferred to different departments half of them had no idea what a dot number even was. the people I really needed to talk to are never at there desk ever and never answer the phone so I leave voice mails and they never call me back.
Finally after 3 days of this someone actually calls me back and he told me it was very strange that they don't do that unless you blow off a safety audit or you were caught using 2 dot numbers something serious like that which didn't apply to my case. he said they would investigate it and contact the fmcsa and try to get me reactivated.
However I still cant get a hold of anyone to see whats going on this is putting me out of business nobody seems to know anything oh yeah and my mcs150 was last updated last may so that isnt the issue but I went ahead and sent in a new update anyway just to be safe.
I don't know what else to do Im starting to think i need an attorney but question remains who do i go after for this blunder. The officer I talked to said it is possible they punched in my dot number by mistake meaning to shut another one down I don't know.
any advice would be appreciated
Dot just shut my company down for no reason at all

That's the problem with government agencies...NOBODY is accountable. Screw up and Joe Citizen's life is turned upside down when he is forced out of business? Eh...nothing to see here!
...and people wonder WHY some folks don't like having to "ask" for permission from government to do what they ought to be free to do on their own.
Hope it gets sorted out quickly for you. -
ty yes that's big government for you right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. from what I hear its only a matter of time for us little guys anyway. There not going to stop till they raise our insurance rates.
-
I would get an attorney and i would contact my state represenative.
-
I don't think its possible to defeat the government odds are stacked against us.

The odds are against you winning the lottery. However, the number of people that try is staggering!Blackshack46 Thanks this.

Can't fight city hall. Obviously it was a mistake, their is no rhyme or reason for it to be disabled according to the government. So why can we not just turn it back on? I would be calling non stop, becoming a real pain in the rear until I got answers.

While certainly I have no idea how far away you are from the nearest DOT office - if possible I would certainly go in person to attempt to solve the problem and ask if they received the vm's you have left for the last 3 days.
I went into an office once and asked if "Susie Smith" still works here and they looked at me dumbfounded and were like, she's worked here twenty years. I responded that since she hadn't returned any emails or voicemails in the last week I assumed she was no longer employed here. Then I sat around and waited for Susie.RERM, Dominick253, Terry270 and 2 others Thank this. -
I'd pack up every piece of paper you have in you're usdot file and go to the nearest usdot office....
Terry270 and Oscar the KW Thank this. -
This, and don't leave until they push the button and get you back active or they close.RERM Thanks this.
