Hi, i saw the new headlights on those new volvos. They are bright and give more light. Has anyone put them in older volvo? I have 06 volvo vnl 780 currently i have new headlights with hids. But i want to put the new style headlights that come originally with leds like the new volvos have. So will they fit? Will they be plug and play?
Anyone have swapped them? Thanks

those are led lights theyre like $1.300 a pair and they will work with older Volvos 2004 and up but when they burn youll have to buy the whole new one. In my opinion VOLVO should give them for free to all Volvo owners and apologise for all those years we suffered and on top of that throw in a gift card or something.

Check with dealer, somebody posted that they are from 2007 up due to light module controller programing.

truck lite says they are only compatible with 2007+ trucks. I have yet to get a difintive answer as to why, I believe it must be something to do with programming in the lcm. I am going to test this out because I know volvo wants to maintain the ability to have the voltage monitoring working. if you go into vcads and open the lcm parameters you will see 2 voltage settings for headlamp monitoring. I disabled mine on my 2014.
what I believe is going on, there are options out there now days for lighting that take less power which is why the newer trucks have a option for that. in 2006 hid and led weren't even considered in trucking but I believe I can just disable the low voltage monitoring and the truck lites will work just fine, it just won't tell me if it burns out.
but that's just my guess.mp4694330 Thanks this. -
Hi there. I looked into these when they first came out. I guess the price has changed. I was told around 1,800 including reprogramming my LCM, so long as the Light control module was able to accomodate the new progrogram update. The installation is pretty straight forward.

Can anyone comment if those new led lights hold up better then old projector ones meaning if the housing still get oxidation (yellowing). If the outside housing is made from the same material as the old one then i dont see no point on spending 1800.00 on it.

they have a circuit board built into them so NO REPROGRAMING of the lcm is needed
true plug and play on 2004 and newer
dealer said they should last 4 plus years
they have a new coating on them to keep them from yellowing
you can find them for as little as $625 a side if you check around
if you get them get them from VOLVO.... some of the cheaper one's (chine knock off') may not have to anti-yellowing coatingKB3MMX Thanks this.
